				<content:encoded><![CDATA[This time a year can be very difficult for some of our Memphis fitness gym members. With Summer right around the corner, there are so many distractions coming into place. We hope this article with help you to stay motivated and continue your progress in our gyms.

Studies have recently reveled that one of the most common reasons people fail with a new exercise routine is a lack of motivation and accountability. The good news is that these are actually two of the easiest barriers to overcome- studies have shown that people who have a varied and diverse workout routine are more likely to continue to be active. One of the best strategies for gaining motivation and accountability is to join a fitness gym.

When choosing a gym look for a chain that has several locations, like <a href="http://www.rivierafitnesscenters.com/memphis/">French Riviera Fitness</a>, that way you eliminate the excuse that its not convenient to get there from home or work. And, if it’s quick and easy to get to, then you can feel justified in stopping in for a quick workout  thereby eliminating the excuse that you don’t have enough time for a workout. Even twenty minutes is better than nothing! A fitness gym membership in itself becomes a motivating factor because you’ve committed money to your goal to become more active and so it will be harder to justify skipping a workout.

The next step is to find a workout partner. You can get a friend to join the gym with you, or you can make a friend once you’re at the gym. Getting involved in a group exercise class is also another way to increase your accountability.

Your classmates will also likely notice your absence and ask about it, which is another great source of accountability.

We at <a href="http://www.rivierafitnesscenters.com/memphis/">French Riviera Spa</a> are just as excited as you are and we want to be the main fitness gym in Memphis that gets you ready for the beach. We all want to look great and feel comfortable when it gets hot! Here’s the “low-down” on getting lean.

Your body is a machine. You need fuel (sugar and fat) to keep you moving. Sugar (carbohydrates) is the body’s primary and immediate source of energy while fat is your body’s secondary and long term source of energy. A Fitness Gym like French Riviera Spa is a great place to do that. 

Getting lean requires TWO things…

1. Prevent fat from accumulating on the body. • Limit dietary fat intake to 20% or less – Read food labels to make sure that the fat calories in a serving size is less than 20% of the total calories.

• Cut out saturated fats (solid at room temperature) such as butter.

• Eat lean proteins like white meat poultry, fish, shellfish, and fat free dairy.

• Eat every 3-3.5 hours and be consistent – This will keep blood sugar stable. Insulin is a hormone that controls blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar goes up too fast, large quantities of insulin are dumped into the bloodstream and can promote fat storage while shutting off the hormones that release fat to burn.

• Limit or eliminate simple sugars (table sugar, fruit juices, extremely sweet fruit or dried fruit, candy)

• Eat unprocessed carbohydrates that are high in dietary fiber. Dietary fiber slows down digestion and this helps to stabilize blood sugar.

2. Tap into already existing fat (energy) that is stored on your body.

• Work out at your fitness gym to reduce your stored sugar – When you work out, you reduce the sugar (glycogen) that is stored in your muscles. In a depleted state your body is more likely to burn stored fat as energy.

• Build more muscle – Muscle is the “furnace” where fat is burned. More muscle means greater potential to burn fat calories.

• Change the structure of your meals – Change the ratio of carbs and protein in a diet will stimulate your body to burn more fat throughout the day.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[We all know that after a great workout in the gym we don’t want to waste our efforts with a unhealthy meal. That’s why we found all of our gym members a great soup that will warm your heart this winter. Try this delicious Salmon Chili. Birmingham Alabama gym director James Bischoff, who loves cooking, recommends this for your healthy lifestyle.

<strong>Salmon Chili</strong>
1/2 lb dry white beans
4 cups vegetable broth
1/8 cup olive oil
1 cup diced onions
1 cup diced celery
1/4 cup each red, yellow, orange bell peppers
3 tbsp chopped garlic
1 cup white wine
28-oz can diced tomatoes
1 tbsp Tabasco sauce
4 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
2 tbsp freshly chopped basil
2 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
2 tsp dried thyme
1 lb salmon, diced into 1-inch pieces

Soak the white beans in water overnight. Drain, then cook the beans in 2 cups of the vegetable broth (enough to cover) until tender, about 25 minutes. If you start running out of liquid, add water.
Saute the onions, celery, and peppers in the olive oil to soften. Add the garlic and cool for 1 minute. Add the wine and reduce for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and bring to a simmer.
Drain the cooked beans and add to the pot along with the Tabasco, tomato paste, the remaining 2 cups vegetable broth, and herbs and spices. Simmer for 10-12 minutes.
Add the salmon and simmer for another 3-4 minutes until just cooked through. Stir carefully to incorporate the seafood without breaking it up too much.

We have known for years that exercise releases endorphines, making us temporarily feel better. But studies are currently showing that getting into shape can also be the most effective way to reduce long-term stress on our bodies as well. Loosing the extra thirty pounds around a person's midsection can reduce stress on their cardiovascular system, lower their cholestrol, and blood pressure. The body no longer has to compensate and work extra hard to perform the same actions of somebody in shape.

Getting in shape can reduce stress as much as improving work enviroments, improving relationships, or getting out of debt.
